Tablescape Thursday

I was in my local grocery store a couple of days ago and saw these amazing flowers on sale.  The color was gorgeous, and I just couldn't resist bringing them home.  Even though they do not exactly epitomize autumn, I decided to plan my tablescape around these beauties, anyway.  As I started pulling the table together, the wind started howling outside (um, yeah, outside... I guess that's a given...) and the tv news announced that we were under a tornado watch.  Thankfully, a funnel cloud had not been spotted (yet), so I was not to be deterred.  It occurred to me that there was a nice contrast to what was happening on my table to what was happening outside.  I like that!

The many inspiring tablescapers had me looking around the house to see what else I could add to my table.  I remembered my little girl who oversees one of my guestrooms:

(Can you see where I singed some of the petals when I lit the votives??! Yikes!)

Dinner plates & bowls:  Dansk
Salad plates:  Sur La Table
Water goblets:  Tuesday Morning
Vase (actually a milkshake glass):  Tuesday Morning
Wine glasses:  Macy's
Flatware:  Pottery Barn
Votive candles:  Pier One
Napkins:  Amazon.com
My girl & the tablecloth:  Have had both for several years

Thank you, Susan, at Between Naps on the Porch for sponsoring another fun Tablescape Thursday!!  Please be sure to check out Susan's tablescape and the tablescapes of all the other talented and creative participants!

How pretty! My youngest daughter loves Gerber Daisies...which has rubbed off on me after 21 years. Lovely soft colors.

The colors, the simplicity, so otherworldly looking. almost a ghostly feel...why I think it's Ghost Whisperer chic. Good job!

Lori, what a beautifully serene looking tablescape! Your flowers are luscious in their color & size & I love what you did with one in the bowl, all alone. :)
This is a lovely setting in which to relax & enjoy some of your delicious food. I ♥ both!

That flower color is inspiring - so pretty, and I love the addition of your little girl. This is such a beautifully soothing tablescape. (Amazing, considering you were under a tornado warning!) laurie

Very pretty and striking with the wonderful gerber daisy, love all the white with the pink..

Thank you all for your kind comments!

Phyllis, actually the dinner plates and the bowls are kind of a celadon color. I should have tried to show their color a little better in the photos. It's so difficult (for me) to photograph well with indoor lighting!! :-/

I love how you play with dishes! Gorgeous...and those salmon colored Gerbera Daisies are spectacular! So pretty!

And you did this while waiting for a tornado to rip your roof off? Don't you miss the relative calm weather of the Hudson Valley? Snow doesn't take your house up in a big funnel and plop you down in Oz.

Or as my daughter Anne said when little, "Dorothy's house went up in a tomato storm."

Anyway, i got sidetracked -- but that's grace under pressure -- a gorgeous serene table. during a tornado watch. You rock.

Lori, I really appreciate the soft color palette you've gathered for your table~ it's such a nice change from the usual autumn colors.

Those Gerberas are gorgeous, I would love a soft throw (or nightie...:)) in that color ~ so beautiful!

Your sweet girl is precious, love your cutlery and china. It's such a lovely table setting. Very nicely done!! xo

Oh I don't know that I would be very calm in a tornado watch. Glad you are ok. Your table is stunning. I love the way the dishes and the tablecloth match each other and that allows the flowers and the precious little girl to take center stage. Just a beautiful color combination. Thanks also for stopping by and leaving such kind comments on my blog. I really appreciate it. Hugs, Marty

What a lovely mood this creates! As you said, it's quite a contrast to the storm brewing outside. Your humor (about the scortched petals, etc.) is delightful. So glad I stopped by today!

Hope our paths cross again soon. ;)
