Tablescape Thursday - Gray Areas

This week I'm doing a simple table of gray and white.  The placesettings are pretty streamlined and the table decor is minimal, but I love the effect.  A touch of greenery from the tulips and I'm calm just looking at this table!

I picked up a bunch of tulips from my local grocery store for a mere $10!

These little darlings were a Big Lots find.  Don't you love that store??

Tablescape Thursday - Tea Time

It's snowing in Dallas! I've got about 4 inches in my backyard, and it's still coming down. It's cozy weather (in my humble opinion), and all I want is a good book and a simple tea:

Tablescape Thursday - A Touch of Taupe

This week I went with a taupe theme.  It didn't take long to scour the house and find all the items decorating my table.  The only thing I ended up getting were the salad plates, a Target bargain find at $7 for 4 plates.  Can you tell I love taupe?!

I did purchase the flowers for the table - $4 for the bunch at my local grocery store:

These hat boxes and little French figurines normally sit atop the armoire in my bedroom.  I brought them down to oversee my table:

I found this little box at an antique store that was going out of business a few months ago.  It was love at first sight!

The pineapple, when not decorating my table, keeps company atop my bedroom amoire with the hat boxes and figurines:

This little keepsake box was a steal at Pier 1 many years ago:

 

The matelasse tablecloth was purchased about 15 years ago from either Neiman-Marcus or Horchows's.  I love being able to mix the few higher end items I have with my everyday bargains!

Tablescape Thursday - Shades of Cream

I've had the beige polka dot dishes for awhile now and wanted to work them into a tablescape this week.  On a trip to Tuesday Morning, I had come up with the little cream-colored wreath for less than half price, along with the tall breath of fresh air for the middle of my table.  Once I realized they were in the same color family, I started building my tablescape.  I found the little tassels  for 75 cents apiece and the cream colored napkins for $6 at Target.  It all just came together.  I even had an afghan in the same shade.  Here we go!

 

 

I "rescued" these roses from the my local grocery store.  The poor things are really on their last legs...

 

The tall white wine glasses were a gift from my son.  They're special to me just because he gave them to me!  I love them!

Tablescape Thursday - Dark & White Chocolate

This week, I needed some chocolate.  A little added stress - a little more than usual.  So, I needed chocolate.  Chocolate heals all wounds, right?  Or a lot of them, anyway... Which inspired my tablescape this week.  I love the warmth of chocolate brown.  And I love the contrast of the deep brown with the pristine white.

The centerpiece consists of an aging pair of bookends (I love the pineapples on top of them, a symbol of welcoming) and a pair of candlesticks.  The votives inside are surrounded by coffee beans.  The aroma is amazing as they light the table.

No deep brown plates, so I put a chocolate-y round placemat under each placesetting, mimicking a charger.

This tablesetting also gave me another opportunity to bring out some more afghans (the white one is a rerun - I used it in my last Tablescape).

And to evoke even more coziness, I made some orange & clove pomanders.  It's the first time I've ever made them, but I fell in love with this little craft.  The scent is amazing.  (Can you figure out what the one on the bottom left says?)
